If you, like me, don’t wear makeup often, or just leave the house with a swish of powder and a smear of lip gloss, you probably don’t have a counter filled with makeup. Maybe you buy a bottle of store bought stuff every few years for special occasions, or maybe you do use it everyday. But maybe you are just tired of smearing and dusting stuff on your face that clogs your pores and allows chemicals you can’t even pronounce to absorb into your skin. The best solution for this is of course to make your own~ DIY Mineral Powder Foundation is crazy easy to make and is mostly created from pantry ingredients. It is also simple to adjust the tone to your skin and the time of year, or just leave it light for a translucent finishing powder to even out your skin. This pairs nicely with our Homemade Charcoal Body Bar recipe!

DIY Mineral Powder Foundation
You will need:
cornstarch or arrowroot powder
cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg
Directions for DIY Mineral Powder Foundation:Â
Start with cornstarch, how much you use will depend on how much powder foundation you want to make to start. This will be your base and make up most of the powder volume so use it as your basic measurement. 1/2 a cup is good for your first batch.
Mix in the bentonite clay and a couple drops of lavender essential oil  2 drops for every 1 cup is great) until  well combined.
Slowly add cocoa powder, cinnamon, or nutmeg a little at a time. Test often on the back of your hand (this is similar in color and texture to your face). Â If you add too much simply add a bit more arrowroot powder to lighten (this is why its a great idea to start with 1/4 to a 1/2 cup of arrowroot). I like to use a whisk to blend everything.
Be sure to write down how much you use of each ingredient as you go, so you can make the perfect blend easily every time from your own formula!
