Ask the Readers: How long have you been couponing? Okay, I’m having fun learning from all of YOU!!! I love learning more about our readers! We’re having fun learning how long you all have been using Swagbucks, so now I want to know how long have you all been couponing? Or if you don’t coupon, why not? 🙂
As for us, we have been couponing since I quit my job in 2008. We are not “die hard” couponers because all we have is Walmart where we live! 🙂 I so wish we had CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, etc….
How long have you been couponing? (We’d love to hear why / how you got started couponing if you want to share!) Or… why do you not coupon?

Hi, I’m Brian and I was a passive couponer (only big obvious stuff that jumped out at me from time to time), but that has changed, big time! About 8 months ago, I went from C.O.O. of a small company to C.O.O. of the household and have been looking for and learning about all the great ways to coupon. I have literally cut the grocery bill in 1/2 and still enjoy most of the things we love, with a few exceptions. I learn every day and continue to get better and better. Sites like yours are a great resource. Thanks!! Brian
We started couponing about 9 months ago. I got a new job that required me to work weekends, and the company provided the paper for us. Since I had nothing better to do, I started collecting the coupons, then found a lot of online resources and really got going. We’re not hardcore couponers – savings of 40-60% we consider great. I’m not really a fan of buying a few items at a lot of different stores, mainly only hitting up 1-2 that are having good sales which is the main thing that holds us back from taking the next step. That and a lack of storage space / extra freezer.
I’ve been using coupons most of my life but I got serious about it about 2 1/2 years ago.
I have been couponing since Nov of 2009. This has GREATLY reduced my grocery budget!! It really isn’t that difficult once you get the hang of it…
I started as a teen so that means for about 22 years or so. I became a super duper couponer about 3 years ago when my husband lost his business. I do not see myself slowing down. My 16 yo stepdaughter n her friends have caught on and so has my 13 yo son! Friends are also starting to see that it does pay to use coupons. 🙂
I have been couponing with passion since about February 2009. Then once I got laid off in June of that year (The day after my 30th birthday, no less) I got laid off. The next month we got pregnant. I have since been laid off again. I now have a newborn and couponing is a way of life for me now.
I stockpile for free and I keep a running blog mostly for my own benefit to keep track of the awesome deals I want to do. Its rewarding hearing that I might have saved someone else a few bucks!
Couponing for life!

I think I’ve been couponing since birth LOL. My mom was a big coupon user, so I learned from her at an early age. Around age 11, my mom made me what Suze Orman’s new website calls the house “coupon czar” – I got 25% percent of what she saved in coupons if I cut them from the Sunday paper AND went to the store to help her shop (I was the 3rd of 3 kids, and my high school aged brother ate like a bottomless pit!).
I proceeded to buy the Sunday paper in college too, so my now husband and his roommate loved to go to the supermarket with me because I’d whip out coupons for what they were buying.
Discovering all the coupon/savings blogs late last fall has kicked my coupon usage up a notch though, as they point out sale/coupon combos I didn’t even know about.
I’ve been couponing for 10 years. I actually went into labor with my 2nd child at a triple coupon sale! I LOVE getting all the FREEBIES! Why pay for something when you can get it for FREE? People are amazed at my stockpile. It feels great helping others as well.
