I got a $5 credit, but when I added a box to my cart it said “My Box: $15.50” (or $15 and some change) and that was WITH the $5 credit. Am I missing something?

When I went out to sign up, the “terms” say that you need to send a box after you receive yours as its a swap sight, and if you dont, it looked like they said they can charge your credit card for an amount that seemed very high…I didnt dare sign up and order my box. 🙁

    Hi there,

We are running a promotion where we waive the $5.00 transaction fee and members are only responsible for shipping (we simply pass along what US Postal Service charges us — $10.95). These promos are through any of our banner ads that say get a free box.

Yes, we are a swapping site and our belief is that once you’ve received a box of pre-loved clothes for your child from a mom like you, you’ll want to participate and thredUP your own boxes of clothing (or toys) that your kids no longer use. But if you chose not to fully participate that’s ok. thredUP isn’t for everyone.

Signing up for thredUP is free, listing a box of clothes you want to thredUP is free, and sending that box is free. We take out all the complication by sending you free USPS boxes in case you want to add a box to thredUP, we include the ability to easily print out a USPS stamp and delivery address at no charge to send your box, and will even schedule the USPS to come and pick up the box (again at no cost).

I hope that clears up any confusion.
