GREAT SANDWICHES TO FREEZE IN ADVANCE
Peanut Butter and Jelly– Prepare as usual
Ham or Turkey and Cheese– Pile on meat and cheese, placing condiments between meat and cheese instead of directly on the bread.
Tuna Fish– For best results, butter both side of bread completely, to create a barrier. Spoon on desired amount of tuna salad on one piece of bread, top with the other.
Chicken Salad- Make just as you did the tuna salad, buttering both sides of bread. Do not include items such as; grapes, apples, or celery-as they do not freeze well.
Meatball Sub– Freeze precooked meatballs, sauce and cheese in a freezer safe bag or container. The morning of heat in the microwave for 30-40 seconds at a time until heated through. Place in a prepared Thermos ( you do this by boiling water, pouring into thermos, and closing the lid, allow to sit for 10 minutes, dump out water, and fill with hot food, should stay warm for 4-5 hours. Pack bread in a separate bag, don’t forget a plastic spoon or fork for serving!
Meat & Cheese Wraps – leave the veggies off but warp your favorite ingredients into a flour or whole wheat tortilla and wrap well, label and freeze.
Pita Pocket Pizzas – Stuff with a spoon of pasta sauce, slices of pepperoni, sliced or shredded cheese and any other traditional pizza toppings. Wrap, label and freeze.
Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich – Using a crusty bread (think French bread or baguette), spread a thin layer of honey mustard on both sides and layer grilled chicken, sliced ham and swiss cheese for an easy to reheat “gourmet” sandwich.
