Do you have a four legged and furry child? Have you ever tried making them homemade treats? If you haven’t, I encourage you give it a try! These Homemade Apple Cheddar Dog Biscuits are as simple to make as a batch of cookies for your two legged buddies.  I love to make treats for my pups over store bought because I can control sodium, leave out fillers and additives, and customize to their favorite flavors…. Which happen to be apple, cheddar, and my secret ingredient in this recipe, bacon grease. If you ever make bacon, save your leftover grease, there is so much flavor in it and in moderation it makes a great addition to many recipes, dogs go crazy for it!  Gather these common kitchen staples and make up a batch of Homemade Apple Cheddar Dog Biscuits for your dog! Here’s how to make the Homemade Apple Cheddar Dog Biscuits…
Ingredients for Homemade Apple Cheddar Dog Biscuits:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 Tbsp. bacon grease
1/3 cup shredded cheddar
1/4 cup milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to  350 degrees F
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl until well mixed.
Turn dough out onto a well floured surface and roll to 1/4″ thick.
Cut out desired shape with cookie cutters! I used a circle this time, but a cute dog bone cutter like this would be would be a fun shape!
I made a few of these dachshund ones, for my pups to enjoy. Aren’t they cute?
Bake in oven for 14-16 minutes until cheese bubbles out.
Remove from oven, cool completely and place in an airtight container in refrigerator for up to 10 days.

If there’s no egg in there, what’s that yellowish round substance I see in the bowl?
