Walmart Gives Back for the Holidays 2009: As one of the Walmart More than Elevenmoms, I recently learned about the Walmart Gives Back for the Holidays Program. This holiday season 2009, Walmart is doing the “Walmart Gives Back” program. As part of this program, Walmart is partnering with several non-profit organizations, such as Feeding America / local food banks, VolunteerMatch, the Salvation Army, and the military, to help give back to the community. Walmart has been doing lots of great things as part of “Walmart Gives Back”, like delivering free food to food banks around the country, and helping the Meals on Wheels program for older adults.
We live in a small town and rural area, and with times like they are, our local food banks are in need of more food than ever before, and donated food is in limited supply. Our local church accepts donated food supplies to give to those in need year round. This year, please consider donating to your local food banks, church pantries, or volunteering at a local food bank organization. Encourage your children to become involved too, and teach them the importance of giving to others during this holiday season. Even giving just a few minutes of your family’s time could change the life of someone in your local community forever.
To learn more about the Walmart gives back for the holidays program, and to learn how you can reach out to others in need this holiday season, you can visit Walmartgiving.com.
We hope you all have a happy and blessed holiday season.
