Is your income stretched to the limit and you just don’t have much to spend on food this month? I’d like to introduce you to the $25 menu for this week! As you look through this menu you should be able to see how inexpensive it can be to buy groceries, even if you are on a super tight budget. And no, you don’t have to purchase all junk food to make this menu work!
Breakfasts –
Oatmeal
Eggs
Lunches –
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches + Banana
Bean Bowls (Refried beans topped with a small amount of cheese)
Suppers –
Easy Stir Fry (Cook rice and fry on the stovetop with a bag of mixed veggies and some soy sauce.)
Spaghetti (Pasta and sauce)
Breakfast for Supper (Eggs with mixed veggies added in or cheese omelets)
Bean Burritos (Refried Beans, tortillas, shredded cheese)
Salads (Lettuce + whatever toppings you can find in your pantry!)
Easy Homemade Soup (Broth + frozen or fresh veggies)
Quesadillas (Cheese, veggies, and any meats you have on hand)
If you are able to shop sales you should be able to find all the ingredients for these items for just around $25. If you are lucky you might even already have some of these items in your pantry to save some of the expense!
If you happen to have any spices in your pantry, those can be added to many of these meals to really give them some flavor. If you have room in your budget you can pick up a few bottles of spices at the dollar store.
Even with today’s prices on groceries, as you can see here you can still find some cheap items that will make for some cheap meals when you need them. Each of these meals should leave you feeling full. If you can afford it you can also grab some inexpensive snacks to go with this meal plan, granola is easy to make and can be made with very few ingredients. It’s also very filling! And make sure to watch the produce sales, if you can find apples for $1 per pound you can pick up a few snacks for just $1.
