We had the opportunity to try the Alexander Signature Hybrid Mattress. We sleep on a King-Size bed frame, but use 2 twin-XL size mattreses, so my husband and I each technically have our own mattress. This was my physical therapist’s recommendation, as I have a lot of back pain when sleeping, and my husband and I are very different in weight, so 2 separate mattresses gives me a single mattress that adjusts to/supports my body specifically. We did a lot of research on the Nest Bedding site before selecting our mattresses. I recommend that you do the same, as everyone has different preferences in mattresses. Nest Bedding offers various types of mattresses, so you can find one that is ideal for your sleeping needs. We were looking for something that is not too firm… something that is super-comfortable but yet supportive. One thing I like about Nest Bedding that I had not seen before with any other mattress company is that they offer what is called a “Split King”, where you can get one half of the mattress in one “feel” (such as “plush”) and the other half in another “feel” (such as “medium” or “firm”). So if you want a King Size mattress but different feels, you could consider this option as well, or you can opt to get 2 separate twin XL mattresses and place them on a King-Bed frame, as we did.

mattresses! They are so comfortable, yet supportive. I am a side sleeper and found the plush to be ideal for me. It relieves pain and tension in my hip, but is still comfortable when I lie on my back as well. I love getting into bed each night because it’s so comfy and cozy! My husband sleeps on the “medium” feel and loves his as well. He no longer has back or hip pain when sleeping, like he did on some of our previous mattresses.

When the mattress first arrives, it comes in a box. You won’t believe a mattress can be inside a box that small, but it is! Here is one of the mattresses in a box, on top of our king-size bed frame

And now, what you have all been waiting for…. Here is a video of the actual “unboxing” of the mattress. This is my favorite part. I love how it “unrolls” and becomes a real-looking mattress so quickly!
After a few minutes, we removed the plastic covering off the mattress. Here’s a video of that process:

We also unboxed the other mattress (the one in Medium feel). The process is basically the same for each mattress, so we did not video that unboxing. Here you can see both Twin XL mattresses, side by side on the King-size frame. Perfect fit! The one on the left side by the lamp is the Medium feel and the one on the right side is the Plush feel. You can see they look identical. The difference in “feel” is on the top layer.
Before writing this review, I chose to try the mattress for several weeks to let it “break in” and for my body to really adjust to the mattress before sharing my opinion of the mattress. I am pleased to say I love this mattress. It is my favorite mattress ever. It is so plush and soft, but still supports my hips, side and back. On our previous mattress, I could barely lie on my side at all without pain over time. With this mattress, I can comfortably sleep on my side for a much longer period of time. It is also soft and comfortable when I lie on my back.

is that you can adjust the feel of your mattress if you don’t like the original feel that you ordered. The Alexander Signature Hybrid comes with a zippered top for easy firmness exchanges. They leave the 3″ top foam layer unattached from the rest of the mattress construction so that firmness exchanges can be processed with ease and to help lower the number of mattresses headed to landfills. My husband and I also tried each other’s mattress. For me personally, I honestly can’t feel much difference between the medium feel and plsuh feel – I found them to both be equally comfortable, yet supportive, and I could sleep on either one. Nest Bedding told us most folks prefer the medium feel, so if you are unsure which one to order, they recommend trying the medium feel. And remember, you can exchange the top layer and adjust the feel if you decide medium isn’t the best fit for you.

we also got to try a complimentary Nest Bedding Easy Breather Pillow (Adjustable). I’m not usually one to get excited about pillows, but this is a cool pillow! It is adjustable, which means you can take out the “stuffing” or “filling” to adjust it to your comfort level. The pillow features shredded memory foam and Tencel blended fabric. You simply unzip the end of the pillow and remove as much or as little of the filling that you need for your sleep preference. It is super comfy and offers great support for your head and neck at night. I have honestly never felt a pillow quite like it. I love the way it cradles my head and feels soft and cushy!
