We used to have cable through cable one, but the cost kept going up. We had the full package with basic cable, cable internet and digital cable (included a basic DVR, music channels and a few more channels than basic cable). All in all this was costing us about 120 a month. We have since dropped everything but cable internet at 32.99 a month and signed up for dish network satellite TV at 39.99 a month. After taxes that puts us about 40+ dollars less a month… almost 500 dollars a year. That is not insignificant. My wife reminds me that we could have had just a basic “family” dish package at 19.99 a month, but I was already addicted to the DVR service and felt it was something I can’t live without. Honestly with working 50 hours a week and trying to keep up with the housework, yardwork and an infant, I hardly ever get to watch anything “live” anyway.
The package we got is the America’s top 100 dvr advantage, which gives us 100 channels of tv, a bunch of music stations and a really sweet DVR setup that has 150 hours of record time. It is installed FREE, is no extra cost for up to two rooms and even has 3 months of free programming. There is no wierd hidden anything other than a contract, and who doesn’t make you sign a contract these days. Overall experience is A+++++, we could not be happier, especially since we are saving 500 dollars a year. I put a link on the bottom of my blog, check it out. I had no quams with cable one, but they were really sockin’ it to us on the bill.
