Did you know it is possible to feed a family of 4 for only $120 a month? I’m sure you’re thinking yeah, right…. there’s no way that’s possible with rising food prices in today’s economy.
But this is simply not true. You can feed a family of 4 for only $30 a week. (And if your family has less than 4 people, then it will cost you even less!)
Here’s how!
There is a national organization called Angel Food Ministries. They provide boxes of quality food products for $30 per box. The box includes a wide variety of foods, including meat, pasta, and so on. Each box is specifically designed to feed a family of 4 for one week. So, to feed a family of 4 for an entire month, you simply need to buy 4 boxes. $30 x 4 = $120. And there you have it, a whole MONTH’s worth of food, for 4 people, for only $120. They also offer other specialty boxes, such as meats only, or fruits and vegetables only. You can purchase these boxes in addition to the main box if you like, and the selection of food in the boxes changes each month. And there is no limit to the number of boxes you can purchase!
You can find out more about how Angel Food Ministries works here. To find your local Angel Food Ministries host site, click here.
I don’t know about you, but that price definitely fits into our monthly budget!!!! Then take all the extra money you would have otherwise spent on food that month, and use it to pay down your debt, or if you’re debt free (congratulations!!!!), add it to your savings!!! Combine this with any free money you make doing paid online surveys or from other free money ideas, and you’re good to go! woot!

Hmmm, it’s fine to do this if you really need the help but otherwise you’re just taking help away from people that truly need it. This is a charity, it’s not a cost-cutting measure for the average family.

Thats where you are wrong, Angel Food is NOT a charity. It is NOT a food pantry.
It is simply a faith based organization that buys food in bulk and provides it cheap for all to buy.
The food is not free, you go in a couple weeks ahead of time, order as little or as much as you want and go back 2 weeks later to pick it up.
It IS a cost cutting measure that IS in place to help ANYONE out.
I suggest you do more research.

unfortunately angel food ministries’ quality varies state to state. here in texas i was very displeased. plus i have a family of 9 so even doing what you said doesn’t help me! 🙂

Sorry to hear you were disappointed in the quality. I have enjoyed Angel Food products myself! (But we are no longer living in Texas either, so I cannot comment about the quality there!)
I do think that regardless of family size, programs like Angel Food or Great Food for All can help stretch a family’s grocery budget.
Thanks for your comment!

I wanted to say that this is also a great way to use the money that you may have saved going to a “regular grocery store” and donating that money to the church/site where you go to pick up the food.
OR, if you really don’t have the money to donate, I would suggest donating your time to help the volunteers out.
I am very glad to have found out about this. Tomorrow, I am going to contact one of the sites to see if I can volunteer my services.

All I can say is….I wish we had this program in CA! I would definitely use it. I think it’s about time that there are programs out there to help WORKING FAMILIES who just need to stretch their budget….we need help too!!!!!! Not just homeless people who have been homeless for years and are just going to stay homeless.

It's too bad that we live in a world where we have to choose between helping struggling families and helping homeless individuals… What if we just fostered a culture of connectedness that helped EVERYONE? 🙂
P.S. – The vast majority of the chronically homeless have severe mental illness and a significant portion are also war veterans.
