We had a great response to our recent blog post about how to get paid $2.60 to get a free $25 Restaurant.com gift certificate, and I wanted to make sure you all don’t miss out this “double dipping” opportunity, where you can get paid AGAIN to “buy” a free $25 restaurant.com gift certificate.
Here’s how to get paid AGAIN to buy a Restaurant.com gift certificate using eBates (which is a site just like Mr. Rebates):
1) Sign up for EBATES. You will receive a $5 bonus if you register with eBates and make a purchase within 30 days. (I do not recommend signing up for eBates unless you plan to purchase something within 30 days or you will lose your $5 bonus… The Restaurant.com purchase does count as a qualified purchase.)
- You will also receive 15% cash back at Restaurant.com for shopping through eBates.
2) Within the eBates site, search for Restaurant.com and go to the Restaurant.com website. Search for gift certificates that you want to buy and add them to your cart. When you check out, enter code PREZ.
- You will get 70% off the price with code PREZ, making $25 Restaurant.com gift certificates only $3 out of pocket. Combine this with the $5 you get for signing up with eBates, PLUS the 15% cash back you get for shopping at eBates, and you can GET PAID $2.45 to buy a $25 gift certificate.
And pretty soon you will have so many free and cheap food gift certificates you can eat out for FREE many times this year!
If you already did this deal using Mr. Rebates, you are still eligible for this deal through eBates. Deal ends 2/19/09.
UPDATE: Also, it was just pointed out to me that according to the “eBates rules” as of 2/18/09, you need to have a minimum rebate amount of $5.01 before requesting your rebate check from eBates, and the $5 sign up bonus does not count toward this. However, if you use eBates for other online purchases, this rebate amount will add up quickly.
Thanks for the heads up on this deal! I am wanting to do this and have the $5 sign up bonus, but how do I use that $5? Where does it come into play in this deal?? Thanks so much!!

I have a question about both Mr. Rebates and eBates. How long do the credits take to post to your accounts? If I was to get some certificates, would I be waiting up to 3 months to get credited to cash out? Also, read some negative reviews about Restaurant.com gift certs. Have you found that places still give good service when you are using them?
Thank You in advance.
Leah – the $5, as well as the 15% cash back rebate, will be credited to your eBates account in 90 days. You then get paid from eBates via Paypal or check, your preference. You do not directly use the $5 rebate to pay for the certificate at Restaurant.com. It is considered a “rebate” that comes in 90 days, along with the 15% cash back. Hope that helps!
Jeff – it generally takes about 90 days for the rebates to post to your account. Rebates are paid via Paypal or check.
We have never had problems using Restaurant.com certificates we’ve purchased. In fact, we’ve had some amazing meals at expensive places we otherwise would have never eaten at, so we are huge fans of Restaurant.com!
Hi MSM,
Thank you for your fast reply! I will really have to give this a whirl!
Thanks again for the tips!
You’re welcome. Let us know if you have more questions. And remember the last day to do this deal is Feb. 19!
Just added a note to the post that I didn’t want anyone subscribed to comments to miss:
