Homemade Peppermint Lotion Bars! Homemade lotion bars are a wonderful way to condition your skin and impart a fresh, light scent.  As you rub the bar across your skin, body heat gently melts it until it absorbs. This leaves it soft and supple, without giving as thick a layer as lotion does. These Homemade Lotion Bars can be created in any scent, but peppermint is perfect to set the stage for the holidays and right through all of  winter for a fresh and exhilarating smell. Make a large batch and pass them out to all your family, friends, teachers, for Christmas (but don’t forget to keep a few for yourself). 🙂 While the ingredients included are gentle and natural, I would still advise testing on a small area of skin first for sensitivity. You can find almost all the ingredients on Mountain Rose Herbs.

Peppermint Homemade Lotion Bars
Ingredients:
1 tsp. Vitamin E oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
silicone molds
Directions:
Cut shea butter into small pieces for easier and quicker melting.
Place shea butter and beeswax in a microwave safe bowl.
Heat for 30 seconds, stir, then heat another 30 seconds if needed until completely melted. It usually takes less than a minute for me.
Stir in coconut oil, vitamin E, and peppermint essential oil to combine well.
Pour carefully into molds, filling just more than halfway- silicone is best for easy removal and clean up.
Allow to set until completely hardened before removing from molds- 2 to 3 hours.
Keep in a cool dry place.
To store or for a pretty gift, you can stack about 4 of these in a 4 0z. mason jelly jar. Tie on a ribbon for a sweet final touch. You can make yours any size and shape but I really like this one, as it is not too small or large, and fits comfortably in the hand and also in a small mason jar. Â I used silicone cupcake liners to make mine.
