It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, lavender is the universal scent of relaxation! A pretty DIY Vanilla Lavender Body Scrub like this one is a great gift for grandma, sister, stressed out teachers, neighbors, coworkers, or yourself. It’s like a spa at home that helps scrub away the stress of the busiest season of the year. Oils act as aromatherapy and have wonderful moisturizing and healing benefits for your skin. Because you absorb these ingredients into your skin and inhale them as well, be sure to always use high quality therapeutic grade oils in your bath and body recipes. Vanilla Lavender Body Scrub
Vanilla Lavender Body Scrub Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
¾ cup coconut oil
15-20 drops Lavender essential oil
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
2 tsp. rosehip oil
Combine all ingredients together in a large bowl until well combined, if you prefer a wetter scrub add a little bit more coconut oil until you reach the consistency you prefer. Keep in mind that as the sugar and coconut sit together it will loosen up a bit more.
Transfer to a pretty jar with a secure lid and add a homemade tag. A tag made from craft paper and decorative edge scissors can really add a pretty touch to a simple gift.
The coconut, vitamin e, and essential oils work as a preservative to keep your scrub from spoiling for 6 months or more so if you give it as a gift it has a good shelf life if not used right away.
Keep scrub in a dry spot in the bathroom in the covered jar.
Scoop a generous amount of scrub up with your fingers, scrub gently over damp skin and rinse away. Finish by patting dry with a towel to maintain as much of the moisturizing oils as possible.
While this recipe is made with natural ingredients there still may be something that people can be sensitive to, if you are gifting it make sure you make a list of ingredients on your handmade tag.
