Homemade Mens Shaving Cream

If you have not yet tried making your own men’s shaving cream, you should try it at least once. Nothing out of a can feels as nice or smells as nice as this Homemade Mens Shaving Cream. The simple ingredients and your choice of scents makes this shaving cream recipe a great gift for the guy who has everything. Create a texture and scent combination that he will love and package it up in a small mason jar, add a “manly” ribbon for a nice touch and perhaps even a handmade tag to label your gift and it’s ready to go as a gift, or start lathering on right away to remove unwanted facial hair!

If this is your first time dabbling with essential oils and you want a good starter kit, then this set has a variety of scents that can be used in many ways!

Plus, we will be bringing you a lot of homemade beauty and gift ideas, as this post is part of our 12 Days of Handmade Christmas Gifts series!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup shea butter

1/4 cup almond oil

2 vitamin e capsules or 2 tsp. of oil

1 1/2 Tbsp. baking soda

10-15 drops essential oil of choice

Some delicious scents for him are:

Sandalwood

Peppermint and Rosemary

Eucalyptus

Bay Rum

Wild Orange and Clove

Directions:

Place Shea butter and coconut oil in a microwave safe dish or pot if you don’t want to use microwave and heat until melted.

Stir in almond oil and essential oils.

Place in refrigerator until mixture is almost solid.

Remove from refrigerator, add baking soda and then whip in a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy.

Transfer to a small airtight container and put the lid on.

This homemade shaving cream recipe can be adapted for women’s shaving cream too. Just choose your favorite essential oil! Lavender or tea tree oil are favorites of some folks. Prefer unscented? Just skip the essential oils and use the first 5 ingredients only! Put a tiny bit in a non-breakable bowl if you want, as you are using it.

You can use this diy shaving cream in the shower and use some homemade lotion bars or moisturizers afterwards to help keep your skin soft. Great for sensitive skin too!

How safe is it to go down the drain? Will the coconut oil clog it up?

I was just thinking how I needed something like this for my husband. Pinned from Ducks in a Row!
